Insurance Education & Research Program... (916) 278-6407:
The Insurance Education and Research Program provides a broad range of local and statewide educational and research opportunities to benefit the community by increasing knowledge and understanding of the insurance industry. The Program awards scholarships and provides internships for students. Interns receive a grant from the Insurance Education and Research Program in addition to their regular employer-paid wage. The Program has performed a significant community service by being a source to coordinate insurance education programs with existing professional organizations. This includes an annual insurance Career Fair, which has attracted over 1600 students and 175 local companies. The AEtna Foundation awarded the Program a grant to develop the Student Education for Leadership in the Future Program (SELF), which includes paid internships, scholarships, field trips, executive shadow days, and membership to Gamma Iota Sigma for qualified minority students. The Program also encourages members of the local insurance community to become guest lecturers. The Program has also coordinated a high-College teachers insurance-education workshop, which includes three company and agency tours, two industry dinners, and numerous guest speakers from insurance-related industries. |
